CITU called a strike on 12th February 2010

Yesterday it was not really a sunny day in Salt Lake sector 5. I reached office at 9 am, as usual. I took my first step off from office bus, and I saw some supporters of CITU are stopping people to enter the office building. I approached the crowd. These men were not actually to stop everyone but the contractors or the people who work for house keeping agencies. They were stopping the house keeping stuffs to enter the building.

What I found after entering inside office, it was not a demand of those house keeping stuffs, but of CITU. The agenda was, to make these contractors permanent employees.

Well brothers and sisters of CITU, even we the employees of these corporates are not permanent, any recession or poor performance due to any reason and cause a loss of job. When we do not have any job security or such low job security ( we earn revenue for our company) then how can you expect a permanent job from such corporates?

But yes,, I do agree these men working hard to keep our working environment healthier deserve more respect and some sought of monetary security and reward. Such as, companies can pay a PF amount, government can pay a pension amount. Being a corporate employee, I know, permanent job is the last thing you can ask for, you can get some extra money though, they do not mind some extra bucks when the market is up, market goes down, they go miser.
