Wish you a happy holi

Happy Holi. Today we are celebrating the festival of colours. Holi is a festival we celebrate to welcome spring, unfortunately the current temperature in Kolkata is 98F, so it is summer time on 11th march, 2009. Few days back on 8th march I turned 24, so not so old...huh? But trust me I don't love or like holi, rather I hate it.
Long back, may be I was 7 or 8 years old, I was enjoying game of colours with my friends, someone threw a balloon filled with colours, and I was hurt badly. So from the next year onwards I stopped playing or celebrating holi.

But that was not the reason for hating a festival. As I am growing older, all these festivals are becoming so meaningless.

Today morning I woke up, watched outside from window, one of my neighbours were all set to celebrate holi...they arranged for a roof top arty. it was 11amor may be before that, they started the party, an open house booze party. You know what I hate drinking and those people who drink. I don’t know why, I feel like killing the person if see him drinking. Anyways, my question is if we are celebrating the festivals of colours, why we need bottles of whiskey or rum and I don’t know what else is there. On every occasion I find people drinking and becoming senseless, behaving worse than animals.
As a human being I feel we all need to behave like civilized people, if we are losing control on our brain, then it is just like becoming an animal.


My problem is not with the festival, my problem is with the way of celebrating it and another thing, I know no one is going to read my likes and dislikes with importance ....so I need to keep on hating festivals..

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R ..
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.


Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:


A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

A man was polishing his new car; his 4 yr old son picked up a stone & scratched on the side of the car. In anger, the furious Man took his child's hand & hit it many times, not realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father....with painful eyes he asked 'Dad when will my fingers grow back?' The man was so hurt and speechless.

He went back to the car and kicked it many times. Devastated by his own actions... sitting in front of the car he looked at the scratches, His son had written 'LOVE YOU DAD'. Next day that man committed suicide...Anger and Love have no limits...

Always remember..... "Things are to be used and people are to be loved" but the problem in today's world is....

Social Problem and Middle School Violence

One of the integral parts of any society is its social problems. It basically consists of problems related to undesirable and negative social attitudes, conditions and process. Social values like law and order, stability of social institution and its consistency get affected by different social problems. Many times we overlook many common problems, later which get a form of social problems. Similarly some issues those were considered as social problems earlier are no more considered so in present days. Social problems are required to be identified from its root, which is of course our society. As some social researchers found out that there are three ways for identifying social problems.
Those are as following:
• To what extent the problem is perceived
• The opinion made about them
• And the remedy prescribed for them.
During the last decades we saw violence taking place in schools has permeated to popular public and academic discussions. The term ‘school violence’ is used to refer disruption and disorder in schools as well as indiscipline amongst students or youths. This is not a problem for only North America but all over Europe. As a result of this; significant development of studies on ‘school violence’ has emerged in recent years. Now the ‘school violence’ has gained the special status as a matter of enquiry. Basing on sociological theories on ‘social problem’, now ‘school violence’ is considered to have come under its broad definition.
School violence or Middle School violence is not very easy to understand. In fact there is no single reason can be identified!
