A combination of yeast with grape juice results in wine. It is made in an open container over a period of time, wherein the yeast spores that are present in the air react with the mixture of grape juice extract and yeast to produce wine. Although this beverage might not be that stomach friendly because of the way it is made.
An essential process of making wine is called the fermentation process. During this process the yeast reacts with the sugar that is available in the grape juice extract is a present in number of strains and different types which are used in making wine. The yeast spores consume the entire quantity of sugar available as a result of the fermentation technique; alcohol and co2 are generated from the sugar.
Contributors like yeast strain, fermentation temperature etc. are important in giving a definite taste to the wine. During the wine making process, once the yeast spores consume the entire sugar, it tends to settle down in the container. The wine which is on top of the container is transferred to another container in order to let it settle down and mature before bottling.
How does wine attain its color?
Almost all types of wines are either made or black or green grapes. The grape juice extract does not have a color, so does not contribute in providing color to the wine. The skin of the grapes when is left in contact with the grape juice extract during the fermentation process provides wine with its color. One can simply remove the black grapes skins from the juice extract for making white wine. The time period for which the grapes skins are left with the juice extract also determines the color the wine.
